Berlaymonster has obtained rights to publish the diary of an unnamed MEP, who is recording the events of the week in real time. See part 1 here and part 2 here.
Wednesday
Well, it’s Day 3 of the post-pandemic plenary and probably about time to get to work. We voted on some stuff, I think? We’re all in favour of vaccines and the rule of law now, so that’s sorted.
Thursday
Today we voted overwhelmingly in favour of a ban on cages for farmed animals, which is great because if there’s one thing MEPs truly understand it’s the horror of being confined against your will, covered in manure, LOL!
All in all I have to say even though nobody wanted to come, this week has been a success both professionally and personally. It was good to catch up with old friends, colleagues, and of course my second family.
If there’s one thing this strange week has taught me, it’s that Strasbourg week isn’t as bad as everyone thinks. Maybe we should stay here!
